What You Dont Know Can Hurt You... This phrase is part of the sub-title
on Meric's training material; Linux and Open Source; What you Don't Know
Can Hurt You. Ironically, it is contrary to the cliché “ What you don't
know won't hurt you”.
Yes, at certain instances you would rather opt to not know of things
because knowing that something may bring you harm. However, that is the
exact opposite of Meric's topic when he conducted a three-hour talk/
training at the Jesus Reigns Christian College to some 50 IT students
this Saturday, March 15, 2008 at JRC College, Manila.
Our energetic CEO emphasized that in Information Technology, most of the
times, it will hurt us (in one way or another) if we remain to be either
being outdated or simply dont know of relevant things, or simply dont
know where to start in IT.
Sadly, a handful of students barely know Linux and Open Source
Technologies that is why, their professor Mr. Avila encouraged to have
this kind of training for his students to open their eyes, their minds
and open their horizon.
Meric shared to his audience that the secret is not in knowing per se,
but in being aware that there are many things that we have yet to
discover and we should not be complacent of the things that we know,
especially in IT.
Similarly, as Meric's quest apart from sharing his invaluable inputs, he
finally encouraged the students to read on, explore and practice what
they read. It is only in this routine that they will know for themselves
that what they read and see has been acutally learned and assimilated.
But glady, at the end of the training, the students openness to better
themselves jolted more gusto for Meric and 8layer to continue to share
the FORCE of the OPEN SOUCE.
And so, may the FORCE be with the JRCC IT Students and the rest of the
studentry.
