Before I rant and rave on my central topic, allow me first to thank all who spared time to vote online and via sms in support of our website (yeah, this one, 8layertech.com). Many many much thanks po!
And our warmest and heartfelt Congratulations! to the City Government of Muntinlupa for bagging the 11th PWA People's Choice Award for eLGU City Website Category! Yess!
The Wait
The 11th PWA anticipation finally took its toll on the night of February 27th. We waited for almost an hour, not new, normal I would say.
Though, the 8liens came on time, earlier even than the invite-stated 7:00PM, we were waiting longer than that for the PWA Finals Night. In fact, as I remember it, even the nomination submission deadline had been extended twice (or was it more?). So there's no surprise there if we have to wait for another hour for the show to start. At a quarter past 8 in the evening (after repetitive intro of the semi-finals judges), the 11th PWA Awards Night finally started.
The Watch
The night was livening. Thanks to the sunshiny radiance of Bb. Pilipinas-Universe Ana Theresa Licaros and the entertainment brought by the presenters' comedic relief, none other than stand up comedians who get top billed in their own rights. Ooh, I wish I remembered all their names but my short-lived memory can only remember their parody of GMA (Ate Glow, I know), Harry Potter's cousin, Ursula and Michelle Obama.
I was told that previous awardings were more boisterous compared to this recently concluded one. I guess one of the reason was that attendees were divided into two: those who were "finalist representatives" and those who were "finalist supporters". Or maybe, also because attendees dwindled due to the "paid tickets". Nonetheless, the crowd's cheery attitude were amiss during the presentation of finalists. Previous awardings were up on an enthusiastic roar they say when the name of the website is called.
All in all, the stage, the flow and the program were organized enough. The host and presenters were properly prompted. Even the finals awardees, at least a number of them, tried their best to deliver their 11-words-or-less thank-you speeches.
The Winners
We made it to the 11th PWA finals, but not fortunate enough to get an optic crystal trophy. We have a certificate though, which remind me, needs changing. My name was printed as the Site's Designer. (I wonder why no one from the PWA called me to confirm it. I am one of the site's owner, but designer? Can't handle a crayon). Accolades should be (at least in print this time!) to Spencer Sy and Allan "Henyo" de Guzman.
What's nice and heartwarming though was that, one of our entries won the People's Choice for eLGU City Category, the City of Muntinlupa Official Website. Again and again, congratulations!
