::One Fine Year::
I remember writing the "Hear Ye! Hear Ye!" web article a year ago. I mentioned there that our site had just utilized our very own 8layer CMS v1.0--a backend change inconspicuous to our site readers. That was July 19, 2007 to be exact.
The first stable version of the 8layer CMS has gone a long way now. It has gone through some customization though to fit the exacting needs of our clients. To date, and since it was marketed a year ago, it has become the CMS to four of our loyal clients.
::The Fast and the Obvious::
The "Hear Ye..." article made some promises too. One was going for Web 2.0.
Yep, the enhancements and added functionalities for the site have long been in the drawing table. There were even two sets of design studies submitted almost three months ago before the final ones were submitted three weeks ago and approved a day later. The final "ones" actually were three separate designs which Kuya Spencer termed as the 8layer Site's Chameleon Skin.
With the new design/s comes enhancement of the site codes the update of which is inevitable since PHP and MySQL have also released their latest version. So there goes Henyo optimizing codes, migrating data from our old to the new site's database, validating in W3C and RSS while making sure that our new site is up, ready and running in time for the deadliest deadline set on August 15th.
One good, well make it better, thing in our 8layer-site-enhancement endeavor is the 8layer CMS which has now achieved a higher level of stability. While Kuya Spence supervises the implementation of images and Henyo adds site functionalities, the site contents and updates are simultaneously being written and rewritten via the v2.0 of 8layer CMS. So I think, I have the easier life. My needs are served on a silver platter.
::8lien vs. Predator: Requiem::
Another promise that is worth keeping, as mentioned in my "Hear Ye!..." article is having some of 8layer's applications on free trial.
Well, this promise is a bump. It's not going to happen. The bosses said, "No trials!". And it became so for CLIX and MAIL8. They are now FREE and OPEN!
CLIX and MAIL8 are now downloadable at SourceForge not only as a free trial but fully shared to the community.
It's a big task, I have to say. Having two applications out in the "open" spells time and effort in collaboration, but for 8layer, it's just just one of the few ways to say "Bless your OPEN hearts and keep them burning!".
